It’s been a little while.
I’ve been playing around with the betas of Godot 4 lately. I went to port the game over to Godot 4, but ran into some issues that I really didn’t want to deal with right now. So instead of doing that, I was making a small Snowboard Kids type of game. I’m having fun with that, but this 3D Collectathon is what I really want to be working on. Maybe when this game is done, then I’ll get back to that snowboarding game.
So back to Godot 3.5 and this project!
I’m still debating on the what kind of theme I should use going forward. I’ve got a pretty good idea of one, and have been messing around creating some characters in Blender. I think it’ll work out well for a throwback 3D Collectathon game. The character will lose the pickaxe finally, but it’ll be for the best. The new guy is modeled up already, so it’s on to texturing and rigging him up, then onto a dozen or so base animations and bringing him into the game. So pickaxe-man gets to live another day.
Version 0.0.4 should be out in the next week or so. This will finally make attacks actually do something! Crazy, right? The combat is still in its early days, but it’s getting there! Being able to get hurt by the enemies, and actually dealing damage back to them, really makes this feel like more like a game and less like a walking simulator.
